PROJECT ACCOMPLISHMENTS FROM OUR TRIP
* We visited the project site in person: the five village
area of Nthandizi, in the town of Ntcheu (pronounced “en-chay-oo”)
* We met our ministry partners: Shadreck Lakudzala, Chairman of FOCAS
Mr. Daniel Manyere, Chairman of the Nthandizi
Orphan Project Committee (local clergy, village headmen, and representatives of the guardians)
* We have delivered $900 of donated funds to the Committee
for use in support of the guardians and orphans
* We have taken important steps toward beginning the individual
child sponsorship program.
* We have set a goal of finding sponsors for 25 orphaned
children by July 2006. Monthly sponsorship amounts will average 50 cents to $1.00
per day depending on the age of the child.
* We have requested detailed financial reports from FOCAS
and the Nthandizi Orphan Care Committee for our records.
* We made many contacts in Malawi who can be helpful to the Project in the future. Contacts include a member of the Malawi National Parliament, a former high-level World Vision employee,
a Synod official from the Presbyterian Church, and a local businessman with orphan care experience and connections in the
transport industry.
